Late last year Matildas Assistant Coach Spencer Prior was announced as the new coach of the Young Matildas (Australia's U20 side).  Despite the talent in that age group, recent AFC campaigns have found the U20s struggle to qualify for the major tournament; the U20 FIFA World Cup.

Australia has qualified for the 2013 AFC U16 Girls Championships after a comfortable 5 - 0 win over Myanmar yesterday.  Sunny Franco continued her excellent goalscoring form with a double with Isobel Dalton, Jessica Waterhouse and Ayesha Kirby all contributing to the cause.

A Tia Gavin brace and goals from Caitlin Cantrill and Sunny Franco have seen the U17s defeat Thailand 5 - 1 in their first match of the AFC U16 Girls Championship qualifiers.

Westfield Australian U-17 Women's National Team Head Coach Vicki Linton has named a 23-player squad for the upcoming AFC U-16 Girls Championship Qualifiers which will be held from 7-11 November 2012 in Manila, Philippines.
