Canberra United was crowned Westfield W-League Grand Final with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Brisbane Roar in an action packed finale at McKellar Stadium with Golden Boot Michelle Heyman scoring twice. The final was everything that the supporters had hoped it would be, stirring from start to finish, with plenty of twists and turns, plots and sub-plots and some fantastic goals.

Brisbane Roar are 2010/11 Westfield W-League champions with the Roar overturning last year’s grand final result with a 2-1 victory at a wet Campbelltown Stadium.
Star forward Lisa De Vanna proved to be the heroine scoring the winner midway through the second half after scores were level at the interval.
Player of the match Tameka Butt setting the Roar on their way with the opener on ten minutes before Sydney skipper Kylie Ledbrook restored parity on 34 minutes.

Prior to this week, the Sky Blues have already set numerous records; most undefeated W-League games, most goals in a season (29) and the back-to-back premiership. This Saturday Alen Stajcic’s side have the opportunity to add another first; back-to-back championships.

Well they did it the hard way but regardless of how they got there, the Brisbane Roar have made their third consecutive Westfield W-League grand final.
An impressive feat from the Queenslanders but this Saturday they will be looking to set another record as the first team to win two championships.
