The Matildas enter their third camp of the year tomorrow in Canberra. The Development Camp will be coach Tom Sermanni's final look at the squad ahead of their 24 and 27 June friendlies with New Zealand.
We have been a little lax in our Aussie Abroad Wrap, for which we apologise, but we are back up and running. With 17 players (yes 17) currently overseas, we will be very busy over the next couple of months. This weekend saw the US leagues kick off, while there was action for Australians in Sweden, Germany, Denmark and England.
The Westfield Matildas are set to take on World Champions Japan and traditional rivals New Zealand in a series of internationals this June and July.

The great passivist Mahatma Ghandi once said that "A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." By the adage, the Australian football nation is looking like one in great trouble.

Every team needs a great personality and in the Matildas there are plenty of those. One such player is defender Servet Uzunlar. The dichotomy of Uzunlar's personality is fascinating. Fun, playful, self-deprecating off the pitch yet intense, focused and self-critical on it.

While the W-League is in its off-season, we still have plenty of Australian footballers to keep a track off thanks to the mass exodus of players to the European Leagues. This weekend we had several in action in England as the FA Cup fifth round got underway and in Germany as the Frauen Bundesliga continued.

At the end of Season Four of the Westfield W-League, record number of Matildas and Australian players have departed to test their skills in international leagues from Europe to the USA. The migration of Australian players in nothing new but the numbers are close to unprecedented.
Managing players such as Kyah Simon, Tameka Butt, Michelle Heyman and Leena Khamis, Sydney player manager Bill Drossos has been in the thick of the action and we chatted to him about getting Australian players overseas.
